• Dennis Specialist Vehicles plans to sell more than 100 extra bus and coach chassis this year than it did in 1988 — an increase of more than 25%.
The company stepped up production by 30% last year and general sales manager Roger Heard says production will at least remain at this level in 1989: "We had a marvellous year in 1988 and 1989 looks set to be the same. Around 25% of Javelin customers are re-ordering and the stagecarriage market is very strong. We are looking to boost production even further this year." DSV's order books are filling fast. China Motor Bus Company has ordered 46 12m Condors with Gardner 6LXCT engines and Voith D851.2 gearboxes: Kowloon Motor Bus Company is taking 31 1 lm Dragons with Cummins L 10 engines. All 76 vehicles will be fitted with all-aluminium Duple Metsec bodies.
Several UK operators have ordered Dominators, including Leicester Citybus and Midland Red North. Ipswich Buses has placed a repeat order for seven rear-enginecl, low-framed Dennis Falcon chassis.
