NEW CONTRACTS worth £400,000 a year have prompted Middlesbrough haulage company Dennis Dixon to buy five new Feldbinder tankers and take on two additional drivers.
MD Steve Dixon says the company recently won a contract with the chemical manufacturer and supplier Schenectady, based near Birmingham. It has also picked up additional work with fuel firm Methanex UK, delivering into its new biofuels plant at Seal Sands, north of Middlesbrough.
Dixon adds: "it's nice because it's new business, which you don't hear of so much in the UK these days. People tend to go abroad rather than come here."
On top of the £500,000 spent on the tankers, Dixon plans to spend E700,000 on replacing 11 tractor units later this year.
