THE EUROPEAN Commission is piling pressure on European Union member states to introduce digital tachographs in May, though the exact deadline has yet to he revealed. The EC has given Et governments until I March to report on how they will ensure digitachs are installed in all new trucks once legislation is in place.
Brussels has requested "a corn plete overview of preparations at national level." The EC normally waits for at least a year after laws are introduced before launching such a probe.
The regulation was approved by the European Parliament and the EU Council of Ministers in December but must be published in the EU official journal for 20 days or more before taking effect.
