• Britain must have a new national plan for urban roads to follow the motorway and trunk road proposals announced last week by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Peter Walker. So said Sir George Middleton, chief executive of the British Industry Roads Campaign, at the premiere in London of a new film, "The Town That Nearly Died of Traffic." A 30-minute colour film, it looks at the effects that a by-pass has had on High Wycombe. The film was made for the British Industry Roads Campaign, with a commentary by Cliff Michelmore, and is to be shown widely throughout the country.
