• Ford and Slater Ltd, one of Britain's major commercial vehicle repair specialists, is to install £20,000-worth of American Arval Bee Line truck chassis and suspension alignment equipment at its Leicester workshops later in the year.
The equipment, the first of its kind to be imported into the UK, is widely used in the United States and on the Continent for repairing damaged and twisted chassis frames. Use of the equipment will in many instances save a considerable amount of dismantling and therefore speed repair jobs. Four staff are to be trained to use the Bee Line equipment and Ford and Slater, Who at present average one to three chassis straightening jobs per week, expect full utilization of the equipment from both their own depots and from other repair garages.
