• Five operators in the North West have formed a consortium—LASCO—to provide a direct coach service from most of the major towns in the area to airports and seaports in many parts of England.
The consortium is controlled from the Preston hq of Ribble Motor Services, and also includes W. C. Standerwick of Blackpool and Burnley, North Western Road Car of Stockport, Yelloway Motor Services of Rochdale, and Cumberland Motor Services of WhitehaA cn.
These companies are now licensed to connect with ships sailing from Bootle, Liverpool, Dover, Hull, Birmingham, North Shields, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Southampton, Tilbury and Ramsgate (Hoverport), and to the following airports: Castle Donington, Elmdon, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Lydd, Ashford, Southend, Speke, Stansted, Teesside, Blackpool and Manchester.
Use of LASCO's facilities means that tour operators and travel agents can now advertise door-to-ship or airport services.
