Bulfin, _Lmanager of Bournemouth Corporation's transport department, says that during the past year the working costs, together 'with the net-revenue charges on the tramways, amounted to £207,989, and the working costs on the buses, together with their capital charges, totalled £54,860, making au aggregate cost for trams and buses of £262,858.

The total receipts for trams and buses amounted to £268,517, leaving a surplus of £5,659, as against a surplus last year of £8,235. The running of the tram-o'-cars and runabouts has produced a profit of £2,525, as against £2,310 last year, representing an in crease of £209. This sum of £2,525, added to the above surplus of £5,659, makes a total of £8,184.

During the past year the buses carried 6,463,541 passengers and ran 1,178,106 miles, the receipts being £53,488.

The tram-o'-cars and runabouts were In service on the sea front throughout the year. The receipts amounted to £6,332, as against £6.921 last year, whilst the passengers carried numbered 406,514, as against 488,660 last year. Altogether 63,399 miles were run, as compared with 69,610 in 1929-30.

This leaves a surplus of £3,025 and, after deducting 2d. per mile as a contribution to the funds of beach, cliffs and foreshore committee (amounting to £500), £2,525 remains to be carried forward as a credit to the tramways account.

In March last, as shown in our special municipal issue, Bournemouth Corporation operated altogether 61 buses, these being of Thornyeroft, W. and 0, Guy, S.D.Freighter Karrier and T.S. Motors makes. ;The S.D. Freighters and Guys are runabouts.
