riONS1DERABLE interest being displayed in Spain in a new Regal oil-engined 112seater coach which has just been shipped by the Associated Equipment Co., Ltd., of Southall, to its Spanish distributor, the Marques de Sales, for demonstration purposes. An advance announcement in this connection appeared in our issue dated May 5.
The well-proportioned body was built by Park Royal Coachworks, Ltd., Abbey Road, London, N.W.10, and it incorporates a Sunsaloon single-panel sliding head, which, when in the open position, lies under the metal luggage container. For the interior of the roof and head, Stipplex shaded rexine, with lightcoloured walnut mouldings, has been used.
Additional accommodation for luggage is provided beneath the floor of the saloon, access to the baggage being by means of flush-fitting doors on each side. The coach doors are situated on the "off side" (near side in Spain). An unusual feature is the provision of a half-drop window in the front bulkhead on the "near side," this supplementing the six full-drop lights on each side of the body. All the side windows are equipped with chromium-plated louvres of amber-tinted glass to minimize sun glare. The comfortable high-backed seats have the back squabs, cushions and armrests of Dunlop latex covered with moquette and faced with leather. A. wide gangway is left to allow for extra seats being fitted later. Adequate heating of the interior of the vehicle is provided by a Clayton device.
It is interesting to note that Madrid Corporation started its first regular bus services recently, using four A.E.C. Regent London-type double-deckers.
