IT ABSOLUTELY filled me with incredulity that a police officer doing 159mph on a motorway can get off scot-free, even though he was not on an emergency call or chase situation.
A truck driver doing a mere 59mph (if he was lucky) would be banned for so long it would be passed down through the generations.
Perhaps the answer is that all truck drivers should become special constables, then if we were hauled up before the beak we could say that we were merely practising for the motorway, as we all know how dangerous they can be.
Perhaps we should organise a national "sod you, I'm sticking to the speed limit day" where every single wagon does actually stick to the national speed limit of 40mph. Then the country's motorists would know the true meaning of congestion.
The Friday before a Bank Holiday would be a good time: then even caravans would be held up.
