Adam Purshall is contract manager in a company that employs 400 people and runs 150 vehicles.
His verdict is simple: This will be a huge benefit to us. We run multiple operations nationwide so we have operating centres in seven of the eight traffic areas.
"Simply moving a vehicle from one area to another is going to be much easier. At the moment we have to notify one traffic area that we're removing it and another that were adding it on.
"It will be so much more straightforward for us because we're constantly receiving licences at our head
o ice and sending them out across the country."
As a fairly large operation with a sizeable fleet, the need for emergency rentals does not arise too often at TM Logistics. So the scrapping of the 28-day grace period is unlikely to have a major impact, says Purshall.
Plans to simplify the fee structure are also welcomed, although Purshall and others are anxious to see the detail before giving a final verdict.
"Whatever happens, I can't see fees going down," he adds.
