I bought a second-hand Mercedes 313 LWB panel van, sold as seen, from a truck dealer.
A year on, at its first MoT, I learned that the headlights were wired up for a left-hand-drive vehicle, which does not conform to Construction and Use Regulations. It will cost me around -2180 to correct the problem, which was not drawn to my attention when I bought the vehicle. I have pointed this out to the dealer but it is refusing to pay for the work.
Do I have redress in law?

It is unclear whether you are an individual or a business. It is important that you have purchased the van -as seen" and we assume that the dealer said nothing else that in any way misled you. It is not entirely clear why the headlights were wired up as they were, but the vehicle was not of itself defective or unroadworthy in the ordinary sense.
With this in mind it is unlikely that you would succeed in any claim being brought, and the relatively low cost to correct the problem may persuade you that this is simply a cost you will have to bear.
