I note the proposal for a European freight exchange (CM March 21) with interest. I feel that it should be a "closed shop" for some time to come—after all, some firms have been bold enough to look into the complex problems of international haulage at their own expense and without encouragement from the various ministries. The freight exchange should be for those early adventurers so that they can reap the harvest after many years of set-backs.
Before these firms give away their hard-earned know-how, let the international haulier be recognized by the Government as a foreign exchange earner. I could give many examples of things the Goverment could do to help.
