Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A wheel-mounted, air-powered hydraulic jack of 50 tons lifting capacity has been introduced by the automotive division of the Consolidated Pneumatic Tool Co. Ltd.

In this jack. known as the CP.705-50TC Pneu-Draulic. a compressed-air-operated ram powers a plunger type hydraulic pump, connected to a pressure vessel type oil reservoir and to an hydraulic ram through check valves. The circuit incorporates an automatic release valve to guard against excessive shock loadings. Control is by a chainoperated on/off throttle to raise the ram, release being by a locking-screw-operated valve. This is provided with an extension handle to the rear of the jack and a further extension can be supplied when a long reach is necessary.

The jack weighs 116Ib and has an overall length of 50in. It is mounted in a tubular steel frame which has a wheel at one end. The ram has a maximum travel distance of 6in. and the height of the jack when the ram is closed is 11-g-in.

In addition to being suitable in its barrow-mounted form for lifting heavy vehicles, the jack can also be used as a heavy-duty ram independent of the frame. The reservoir and ram sections can readily be separated from the frame by removing the locating bolts. Used separately, it can be employed to straighten heavysection steel members and to exert up to 50 tons of thrust to separate or raise heavy loads. Made by: Consolidated pneumatic Tool Co.
