Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Aluminium the weightsaver

Why waste precious fuel and pay more tax pulling unnecessary weight around? Aluminium, because of its unrivalled qualities of lightness, strength, and corrosion resistance, is now a major constructional metal for vehicle bodies. An aluminium body needs no chemical treatment, priming or painting to protect it from the weather.

Welding, the modern way

With the constant demand for faster and more profitable units, the chassis makers have been building in more power and strength. Now body builders are playing their part by supplying welded aluminium bodies with the strength and lightness to meet today's profit earning demands.

Argon-arc welding has taken aluminium past the 'horse-and-cart', era of mechanically jointed structures. An all-welded body in aluminium is the strongest and most economical construction.

Alloys to match

Metallurgy too, has not stood st Special self-hardening alloys a now used which regain witho further treatment their original qu ities after the localised softenir effect of welding. The completr body is a solid integral metal col struction without the local wea nesses of bolt or rivet holes.

Monocoque strength

In the welded aluminium body, the stresses are distributed throu. the shell itself, not transferred bolts or rivets. Such bodies mu: however, be designed from the stz as a welded unit. This is the streng of the Alusuisse 'M' Series.
