N° great enthusiasm for incentive bonus schemes for traffic staffs was evidenced by delegates to the Municipal Passenger Transport Association conference in Edinburgh last week. Rather did it appear to be thought that the basic wage structure needed closer investigation.
The discussions on the papers by Mr. Ronald Cox, general manager of Rochdale Transport Department, and air. W. Alker, chairman of Bury Transport Committee, ranged over a wide variety of topics. They covered, among other matters, the subsidization of workers' services by industry, traffic, staggered hours, and the ownership of passenger transport.
