OBJECTIONS by British Road Services and British Railways were withdrawn at last week's application in London by Econofreight Ltd. for the transfer of six of its A licences from the Northern traffic area.
Mr. T. H. Campbell Wardlaw, for Econofreight, said that the company and its wholly subsidiary firm, D. Tarren Ltd., had been operating in the Stockton-onTees area for many years. Recently they established a large depot at Northolt. As 11 of the 12 drivers and the resident depot manager lived in the London area, it was thought right and proper that six vehicles operating from London should be based in the London area.
The original application to transfer two vehicles from B licences in the Metropolitan area to A licences was not being proceeded with, said Mr. Wardlaw, and this had satisfied both B.R.S. and B.R.
In answer to Mr. C. J. Macdonald, the deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. Wardlaw emphasized that no change in normal user or activities of the company was contemplated. He asked that the normal user be defined as: "General goods ".
The transfer was granted without evidence being called by the applicants
