AJ Long Transport, is facing a prison sentence after admitting to smuggling more than 25,000 litres of untaxed green diesel into the UK from the Republic of Ireland.
Long, of Reeds Court, Liverpool, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court.
He initially denied his involvement but changed his plea to guilty on two counts of knowingly being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of excise duty totalling approximately £210,000.
Kevin Halligan. one of the company's drivers, has already pleaded guilty to a similar offence. Sentencing was adjourned until 17 September while reports are prepared, but Judge Gerald Clifton warned both men that they were facing terms of imprisonment.
in The company's licence for 25 vehicles and 40 trailers has already been revoked by North Western Traffic Commissioner Keith Waterworth (CM11-17 Feb).
