Oldbury-based Vernon Saunders, trading as Saunders Haulage Contractor, has been issued with a formal warning over vehicle maintenance and compliance with the drivers' hours and tachograph rules by West Midlands Deputy Traffic Commissioner Jim Astle.
Saunders had been called before the DTC at a disciplinary inquiry in Birmingham.
The DTC decided not to take any action against Saunders' 0-licence after he gave four undertakings on vehicle maintenance: • Safety inspections every four weeks, with the PMI reports being completed, showing rectifications and retained for two years.
• Random audits of safety inspections in no less than six months, with two vehicles being checked by a suitably qualified person. The findings must be available to VOSA or the TC on request.
• To have a nil-defect daily driver reporting system, defect reports to show rectification and the reports are to be retained for two years.
• All vehicles would have a pre-annual test inspection, with records kept for two years.
