I AM FEELING a real rage. I've just come back from my local Daf agent after trying to order a new 44-tonne unit. I was told that I'll have to wait until week 48 in 2008 some 15 months away.
Why the long wait? It seems that all the truck manufactures are too busy building new trucks for the Eastern market, ie Poland, Ilungary etc. Not only are our new EU cousins given a head start by being able to slash the already low haulage rates, it seems we are now to be denied the tools of the job by the truck makers. They are too busy turning out vehicles for their newfound friends in the East, and are sticking two fingers up to the British haulier who has supported them though thick and thin over the years.
When is this 'kicking in the teeth' of the British hauler going to end'?
