QEVEN haulage concerns and a driver ■ ---) were fined a total of £271, with £36 . 15s. costs, at Leeds City Magistrates' Court, last week, for offences against the law on C licences, the 25-mile limit and the keeping of drivers' records.
The offences were committed in connection with the carriage of waste paper from Leeds to Warrington under a contract placed with Archbolds (Freightage), Ltd., Leeds, by Leeds Cleansing Department. Archbolds were fined £175, with £26 5s. costs, for aiding and abetting breaches of the law concerning the 25-mile limit and C licences, The other defendants, offences and fines were: L. Senior, Ltd.. Leeds. infringement of permit conditions and failing to cause current records to be a32
kept. £19 with £5 5s. costs; Thomas Dolphin, Girlington, Bradford, operating under a C licence for hire or reward and failing to cause current records to be kept, £30 with £5 5s. costs; John Sharrocks and Thomas Sharrocks, Rochdale, operating without a permit, £6 each; James Pickup, Shuttleworth, Ramsbottom, infringement of permit conditions and operating without a permit, £10; Mark Hubert Houghton, Low Bentham, operating under a C licence for hire or reward, and failing to keep current records, £5; 0. Smith (Haulage), Ltd., Norden, Rochdale, operating without a permit, £5. Raymond Fisher Stott, a driver employed by another defendant, Thomas Dolphin, of Girlington, Bradford, was fined £15 for failing to keep current records.
