• Lancaster-based Dennison has built an unusual dual-purpose trailer for an Irish haulier which carries expanded polystyrene and slack coal—quite a departure from Dennison's usual skeletal trailers.
The 13.7m, 9,500kg triaxle chassis is fitted with a Euroliner curta insider body (with a rollback opening roof and 3.15m internal height), rear doors and, inside the curtains, one-metrehigh aluminium dropsides.
A Keith International walking floor allows bulk materials to be unloaded—haulier Gearoid Gil heany of County Cavan previously used a tipper trailer as well as a curtainsider.
Gilheany carries polystyrene building insulation from manufacturer Litepack in County Longford to sites all over Ireland—a full load weighs just 1.5 tonnes. He collects return loads of fertiliser, or coal from Lisahally Docks, which is top or side-loaded and unloaded with the walking floor, Mentor air suspension is fitted to cope with the varying loads.
