• After two months in which no suitable offer was made, 36-vehicle Shipman Haulage was hours from liquidation when a buyer stepped in last Friday, saving the company and its 50 employees. The new owner is Land Fleet Services, a company set up with investment funds by Shipman's finance director Andrew Patterson, now managing director.
