Campaigner bailed in laundering case

EMMA VASEY, the campaigning wife of freed truck driver John Vasey, has been arrested as part of £1.9m money laundering and VAT fraud investigation.
Vasey was arrested by Customs )fficers at her home in Washingon, Tyne & Wear on 21 June; she was later released on bail.
Vasey was a founder member of he Blue Ribbon campaign to free 3ritish truckers jailed abroad. She nitially set up the group to seek he release of her husband John, a iewcastle operator who spent 14 nonths in a French jail on drug smuggling charges. He always protested his innocence and was finally released in May 2004 following the payment of a £3,200 fine ( CM 13 May 2004).
A Customs spokesman confirms that Customs officers assisted by several regional police forces across England, Scotland and Wales made arrests and searched a number of premises: Al" this time we cannot give any further details as investigations are ongoing."
John Vasey says he had no involvement with his estranged wife's arrest.
