• A must for people in the road passenger transport industry or suppliers to that industry is The Little Red Book, a new edition of which has been published by Ian Allan, Terminal House. Shepperton, Middlesex, at 37s. 6d. The book contains, as usual, the names and addresses, together with the names of executives and brief fleet details, of nearly all the bus and coach operators in the British Isles.
As usual the book is printed in sections, the first section listing municipal bus operators, followed by a section devoted to National Bus Company subsidiaries (indicating which are former THC and BET undertakings) and the Scottish Transport Group. Independent operators are listed, county by county, with separate sections for England, Scotland, Wales and the off-shore islands.
At the back of the book is a list of associations connected with all aspects of the bus and coach industry, giving full details of officials, branch addresses, and so on. The book is quite up to date, with the grouping of certain municipal and NBC operators indicated where this has taken place recently. The new edition, however, does not detail the new PTAs.
