• Proposals for higher weight limits for trucks between 24 and 32.5 tonnes have been put out for consultation by the Department of Transport (CM 23-29 May).
An EC directive will allow many trucks making international journeys to operate at higher weights from 1993: the DTp is also considering applying the higher weight to vehicles on domestic work.
