• Western Scottish marketing officer Dave Granger has resigned, to set up a new bus company to operate local services in Ayrshire with former WS inspector Harry Hay.
Shuttle Buses will operate minibuses from a base in Kilwinning. Two Iveco/Carlyle 25seat inidibuses are being leased to start the new service in January, and the company has tendered for Strathclyde Re&n school contracts which have been advertised recently.
The midibuses will serve areas in Troon and Irvine that are difficult to reach with fullsize buses and, although Western operates nearby, the main competition will be with AA Buses of Ayr.
