• Pembrokeshire haulier Peter Harding was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay back duty of £124,17, after he pleaded guilty to taxing an artic at the wrong rate.
Val John, prosecuting, told Llanelli magistrates that Harding, of Bridge Farm, Letterston, Haverfordwest, had used a tractor licensed at the concessionary rate of £682 for the movement of tri-axled trailers to haul a tandem-axled trailer.
Harding said he had thought he was within the law because the trailer was empty It had been moved off the A48 dual carriageway to a nearby transport yard because its own tractor had broken down and the trailer was causing an obstruction.
