Two-inch crab causes chaos
Transport throws up its own set of problems; breakdowns, motorway chaos and queues at RDCs are all part and parcel of the industry. However one firm in Hull managed to find a unique situation to solve recently.
Staff at courier company Lightning Transport Group. part of the APC Overnight network, found themselves in a desperate search for a rogue crustacean. The crab in question had escaped from a box of fishing tackle, and staff had to remove numerous boxes and storage cabinets to find the two-inch crab.
Branch Manager Kevin VVoodless says: "You wouldn't believe that a two-inch crab would cause so much chaos. We had to find it, because it would have died and caused an unpleasant smell in the warehouse if we hadn't. The crab was in a box of fishing-tackle bait and decided to make a dash for freedom. It took ages to find it, and we put it in a tub so it could be returned to the customer. Our customers wondered what we were searching for, and couldn't believe it was a just a little crab. They were very amused."
