• United Transport UK is believed to have asked for more time to reply to a High Court writ issued by six drivers who claim they were forced to sign new contracts "under duress." (CM 23-29 September).
Another driver who left after , being given an ultimatum to sign the new contract or go is planning to take the BET subsidiary to an industrial tribunal.
Dave Howe had worked at United for 13 years, most recently on an Esso contract out of Purfleet. He left with a redundancy payment of £2,800 and money in lieu of notice.
