Cheetah Fastback is a result of using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to design the trailer. It was developed by forming close links with Manchester Metropolitan University, through a knowledge transfer partnership scheme (KTP) with post graduate Anthony Bukowski.
"The British road transport industry consumes 6.5 million tonnes of fuel per year. Every effort is being made to help reduce fuel consumption through aerodynamic development that, in turn, can directly reduce transport costs and CO2 emissions," he says.
Director Steven Cartwright explains: "CFD has replaced the wind tunnel. By using particles, which you can alter in size, it shows up where the aerodynamic deficiencies are on the product.'
