D1V1SION of work in connection with the new scheme of the Metropolitan and South Eastern Area of the Road Haulage Association for the collection of smalls for London Docks (The Commercial Motor, last week) has been decided.
At the Royal Albert Dock, We Deliver Motor Transport Co., 133 Usher Road, London. E.3, will handle goods for 2-4 sheds (West Africa); J. Spurting, Ltd., Peel Grove, London, E.2, 7-9 sheds (India); Lep Transport, Ltd., London, W.4, 13 shed (South Africa), and Samuel Williams and Sons, Ltd., Dagenham Dock, Essex, 17-19 sheds (South and East Africa).
At the King George V Dock, Trinity Wharf, Ltd., 305-309 Rotherhithe Street, London, S.E.16, will deal with 12 shed (East and South Africa), and Beck and Pollitzer, Ltd., ,Universal House, Southwark Bridge, London, S.E.1, 13 shed (Far East).
A and B sheds (Mediterranean) at the West India Dock will be served by Dunbar Wharf, Ltd., Narrow Street, London, E.14, and N shed (West Indies) by Thomas Allen, Ltd., 58-84 Hermitage Wall, London, El.
Cusick, Montague and Co., Ltd„ are operating a scheme for the handling of part-loads and small lots to all London Docks from their depot at 85 Blackwall Lane, London, S.E.10. Most consignments deposited at the depot are cleared within 24 hours. The company plan similar arrangements for Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle upon Tyne and Poole Docks.
B.R.S. DEPOT TO CLOSE 'TWENTY-FOUR men and six women, mainly employed on clerical duties at the Staffordshire District stores depot of British Road Services, Hare Street, Bilston, have been advised that the depot is to 'be closed as soon as staff and stores have been cleared, The depot superintendent has told thelocal employment Exchange that there is until Christmas to find other jobs.
