Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

II Hundreds of drivers' jobs could be under threat at W H Smith's stationery business as part of the company's bid to cut costs.

About 400 of Smith's1,050 job losses will be from the Business Supplies Division, which supplies large companies direct. Smith's is unable to say how many drivers jobs will go but a spokeswoman says: "At the moment all jobs are under review."

The losses will come after the integration of the business of two other stationery supply companies, bought out by Smiths in May, into the Andover distribution depot, Hampshire.

Satex, in north London, and HJ Chapman of Ledbury, Herefordshire, will be known as WH Smith Business Supplies when they are integrated.

The spokeswoman says that Smiths will do its best to offer redundant drivers alternative jobs. The integration of Satex will be complete by the end of September, but HJ Chapman will continue to the end of the year.
