AN ANTI-HIJACKING package, derived from a system first used with petroleum delivery fleets, has been marketed by First Security Group of Hartley Wintney, Hampshire.
The main unit enables a driver to programme a fuel cut-out switch which will stop the hijacked vehicle after a preset distance.
A trailer load can be linked with the cut-out device together with a cab protection system, based on FSG's type 486 Inertialarm vehicle security unit. Boxvans and trailers constructed from fibre, wood or metal are protected by the Inertialarm which warns of an attempted break-in, by operating the vehicle horns or a separate siren mounted outside the engine compartment.
Improved circuitry enables a protected trailer to be connected to various tractive units. The alarm has a choice of sensitivity settings.
