• Elddis Transport, the Consett-based food and drink distributor, is replacing its 120-vehicle fleet with Mercedes-Benz products. The C/rn deal includes 106 Actros 2540 6x2 tractors and three Atego 25281. 6x2 rigids.
• Volvo is now offering an extended warranty for all Mitsubishi Canters.
Extensions up to five years or 400,000km can be bought, but only at the time of purchase.
• Traffic information provider Trafficmaster is moving into the vehicle tracking market. Its new device is expected to cost £200 and £60 a year. The system works through Trafficmaster's UHF network, which is about to be extended to most Aroads. A signal from the operators will activate the device on a stolen vehicle and slow it to around 15mph; making it easy for the police to retrieve it,
• Volvo has sold its Swedish truck axle plant to Mentor for £85m, and has appointed Mentor as one of its global component suppliers.
• Motor & Legal Group has taken delivery of its 50th lsuzu NOR 7.5-tonne car transporter; another six are being bodied by Autofab of Brighouse. The Isuzus all feature Autofab's Trio three-car collection/delivery system, comprising a beaver-tail main floor and hydraulically raising second deck. Payload is 3.5 tonnes at 7.5 tonnes GVW.
