• Breaches of the AETR drivers' hours rules committed in Eastern Europe have led to the suspension of the licence held by Annan-based James Morrison, trading as GSM Transport, for two weeks.

• Cumbernauld-based John McNeil's licence has been suspended for a fortnight by Scottish TC Michael Betts because of maintenance problems and convictions.

• A bid for a new licence for 15 vehicles and two trailers by M&P McCarthy Brothers was turned down at a London public inquiry. Neighbouring residents had made representations about the proposed operating centre at Harefield.

• A bid by Blackburn-based Stuart Taylor, trading as Stuart Taylor Haulage Contractor, to add 10 vehicles and 10 trailers to his existing licence for 30 vehicles and 30 trailers was approved at a Leeds public inquiry, but Taylor was given a formal warning about maintenance.

• A series of prohibitions resulted in the licence held by Manchester haulier Barry Howard being cut from two vehicles to one. Howard appeared at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry before North Western DTC Patrick Mulvenna.
