• Repairing concrete areas with concrete is difficult because new concrete does not stick to old. Repair patching kits based upon sand cement mixes have been of inadequate performance and many users have turned to Epoxy systems. Epoxy systems, however, are complicated and expensive, says Boston Chemical Company, and to meet the need for a quick, reliable, simple and economical patching kit, it has produced one based on its acrylic polymer emulsion.
It consists of a bottle of polymer emulsion and a bag of blended cement and aggregate. The area to be patched is first primed with the emulsion and then a mortar is made with the emulsion and cement aggregate mix and trowelled into place. A quick repair is then achieved overnight with an excellent bond.
