• Matthews Demolition and Excavation, a Surrey-based firm specialising in building work, has collapsed with the loss of about 30 driving jobs. The company ran a fleet of up to 40 HGVs and other vehi. des from its Horley headquarters. Its affairs are being hand. led by Brighton receiver Nevill Russell, which blames the slump in the building industry as well as a large debt owed tc Matthews for the company's demise.
A creditors' meeting will be held within three months.
