• An Oxfordshire lorry driv er, who imported almost £500,000 worth of drugs after being threatened with violence, has had his sentence cut from 10 years to seven.
Malcolm McIver, of Fir Tree Avenue, Wallingford, was jailed last July by Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty.
Last April Dover Customs found 191kg of cannabis and almost 2kg of cocaine, worth a total of £480,000, hidden in tyres that McIver had driven from Yugoslavia.
Truck driver Billy Daniels, who was jailed for 13 years in 1989 for smuggling drugs in his lorry, has been given leave to appeal against his conviction.
