COUNTY DURHAM-BASED bulk haulier Hargreaves (UK) has created 40 new jobs to service new waste-management contracts.
The company's fast-growing waste services division has signed a five-year deal with SITA to move two million tonnes of waste a year for recycling and disposal. Hargreaves has also clinched a deal with WRG covering Barnsley and Derbyshire, which will keep 20 new Scanias busy. Recent investment on specialised vehicles stands at more than £2m.
Hargreaves company secretary Steve MacQuarrie says: "For the most recent WRG contract we are transporting municipal waste from transfer stations to landfills and other recycled waste to various Midlands locations for re-use."
Hargreaves was bought by its management last May for £19.2m: within a month it bought Barnsley-based R Hanson & Son.
