• Britain has the second biggest truck leasing market in Europe, a new report reveals.
There are 43,200 leased trucks and 81,100 vans in the UK, beaten only by France's 54,500 trucks and 268,000 vans. German operators lease only 12,900 trucks; the Italian figure is just 1,200, according to the Marketline report. The size of the French leased van fleet reflects the tax breaks available for car-derived vans.
Marketline says that competition in the market will increase as manufacturers play an increasingly large role in leasing directly all over Europe. "The West European commercial vehicle market is already very competitive," it acids. "Now with manufacturers entering the leasing industry competition is increasing."
