• Motor dealers are in better financial shape than a year ago, says credit reference agency Equifax. Their credit ratings are improving as fewer collapse or suffer declining profits.
A confidential survey reveals that last year only 18% were scoring a "good" rating compared with 53% this year, says the agency; the number scoring "below average" has fallen to just 6%.
The dealers are doing even better than the booming mobile phone companies, where the number of companies with a "good" credit rating increased to only 30%; up from just 13% last year.
