Despite stiff competition from BCA and Commercial Vehicle Auctions, Fleet Auction Group is still battling away to win truck business. What's more, the operation is making headway, says sales director, Mike Gray.
"We had 60 or so vehicles at our most recent sale," he says. "Admittedly that's not a lot, but we sold all of them bar two."
The line-up included a quartet of Nregistered 1995-vintage Daf 45 Series 7.5tonne Scarab 3000 sweepers. "They went for £5,000 to £6,000 each," he says.
A selection of rather elderly Crane Fruehauf tandem axle curtainsider trailers on steel suspension that had been lengthened to 13.6m went under the hammer too, They made surprisingly good money, says Gray.
"A1979 one went for £800, one dating back to 1980 went for £900, and one going back to 1985 went for 11,300," he observes.
