THE SL shuttle dump truck is now being offered by Aveling-Barford Ltd. with a 30,000-1b. payload capacity. In this form the model is called the 15 ton SL300 and gives an 11 per cent payload increase over the SL270. The new version differs from the SL270 mainly in body construction;. in place of a timberinterlined hopper body fitted previously, there is a single-skin body made largely of T1 high-yield-point steel as used in the concern's SN 30and 35-ton payload dump trucks.
In addition to the increased payload the new body gives a 16-5 per cent greater volumetric capacity, although the gross
laden weight remains. virtually unchanged. In most other respects the SL300 is identical ,with its predecessor with parts fully interchangeable.. Slightly. larger tyres will be fitted as supplies become available and other minor speeification changes, such as the fitting of a larger air compressor and diaphragm brake chambers, will be introduced. No price change is at present contemplated.
