• International drivers who are unable to carry the previous week's tachograph records while abroad are being advised to carry special forms signed by their employers. Drivers in France, Italy, Spain and Germany are advised to carry the forms, known as attestation forms, where their records have gaps in them.
Drivers are currently required to carry the whole of the previous week's tacho charts and the last day's chart of the previous week. However, where a driver has been on holiday or not working for any other reason, the Road Haulage Association is advising that they carry a form or original letter signed by the employer explaining any gaps in charts.
This should prevent a prosecution if the driver is stopped and cannot produce a complete set of charts for legitimate reasons. The RHA's international department will supply appropriate forms to its members.
