• Dennis Eagle is to cease manufacturing tanker bodies at its Leeds plant in favour of fitting those made by nearby Whale Tankers.
The move to use tanks from a single source is to streamline its tanker sales and support services.
Dennis Eagle stresses that there will be no job losses at Leeds which will continue as a service depot for existing and new customers.
The move will not affect either company's relationships with other business partners but Whale managing director Rod Turner says its customers have been specifying the Dennis Elite chassis for some time. Because of the amount of cross specification of Dennis chassis and Whale tank bodies "an alliance that makes sense" according to DE's UK sales and marketing director Norman Thoday.
