SAF has extended and improved its Intradisc nine-tonne axle range and expanded the scope of its million-kilometre warranty.
The new Intradisc Plus air-suspended line-up goes into full production in January with 19.5in brake options available across the board and a new steering axle.
The range is completed by the drumbraked Intraax Plus and new 120mm offset designs, with a disc for 19.5in wheels developed with Knorr-Bremse, Wabco, Michelin and Hayes Lemmerz.
All the axles benefit from new, Fighter design features. including smaller '3D' rubber bushings allied to narrower members and suspension arms which now house centrally mounted shock absorbers.
Operators can shave off up to 60kg kerbweight over three axles with the lightest of the new designs. the 19.5in disc-braked equipped version, which weighs 398kg. SAF claims this is the lightest suspension of its type on the market. All the axles are based on SAF's platform strategy, which uses the same axle tube, suspension arm and bearing across the range.
Shock absorbers have been brought within the million-kilometre/six-year Guarantee of Competence warranty, says SAF. The manufacturer is now planning to integrate the air bag and braking system, including pads; cylinders, drums and discs, within the scheme too.
It has also introduced a service package option called usafe+easy" to give operators a pence-per-mile cost for wearing parts on their running gear.
Price is based on vehicle type, use and projected distance travelled, with rebates offered if fewer miles than expected are covered.
The safe+easy scheme and the millionkilometre warranty are subject to conditions—for more information contact IMS, sole distributor for SAF in the UK, on 01509 600185.
