By mid-2001 MAN will offer a form of adaptive cruise control (ACC) with radar sensing to assess the safe distance from the vehicle In front. ACC will operate the accelerator and also the BrakeMatic system, using the service brakes and engine brakes to give deceleration of up to 0.25g. Later developments will make the system suitable for use in slowmoving urban conditions.
