YOUR COMPETITION to win an"ADR kit" (CM 29 June) is somewhat misleading regarding the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use ofTransportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2004 (ADR).
Regulation 24(1) explains the equipment required to be carried for compliance, While the crew of most vehicles will only he the driver, the requirement for the highvisibility clothing and the pocket torch (which does not have to be a flashing micro-light) in fact applies to "each member of the crew".
rIbere is no requirement to carry an "ADR clipboardand you appear to have confused the requirement for fire extinguisher(s).That is found in ADR 8.1.4.
Furthermore, in Great Britain the Department for Transport has issued Certificate of Authorisation No. 24 which permits a GB-registered transport unit comprising two vehicles (for example a tractor unit and semitrailer) to carry only one wheel chock when engaged on domestic journeys.
I hope that this clarifies the requirements and you will feel able to correct the matter as soon as possible, Clive Dennis Head of Carriage of Dangerous Goods The Health and Safety Executive
