• From next spring all diesel Mitsubishi L200 pickups will be fitted with the charge-cooled engine used in the Shogun 4x4.
The L200 shares the Shogun's chassis but is currently powered by the naturally aspirated version of the 2.5-litre diesel engine. The naturally aspirated engine will be deleted.
The charge-cooled engine offers 44% more power, with 73kW (98hp) at 4,200rpm, and an impressive 236Nm (1741bft) of torque at 2,000rpm — 63% more than the naturally aspirated engine.
As well as the uprated engine, the L200 will get minor trim changes. There are no plans to modify the two-litre petrol engine, and the L200 will con tinue in 4x2 and 4x4 versions. The change comes nearly two years after the new Shogun was launched.
