Id he Department of Transport has not yet chosen a new name for its house journal, which still appears as DTP News. Suggestions being considered include On the Move and Going Places: the latter is guaranteed to please Radio 4.
I recently made the mistake of abandoning my wings and tried to get to the DOT's headquarters by car. That frustrating experience leads me to suggest that In a Jam or Going Nowhere would be more suitable.
The paper also casts light on the DDT's dubious green pretentions. A reader suggested printing on recycled paper, as used by the Environment Department's Environment News. This was turned down, partly on grounds of cost and partly because "the environmental arguments in favour of recycling are not conclusive". That sounds like a good Civil Service Yes Minister-type of expression; probably drafted by the bureaucrat who has advised successive ministers to reject environmental arguments in favour of 44 tonnes.
